What material should I choose for my countertops?

It's a common misconception that stone kitchen countertops are completely indestructible. While most stone countertops are heat, scratch, and stain resistant, but customers should be cautious and take care of any counter. With that being said Granite and Quartz are amoung the most durable materials-- and why they are the most popular choice for a busy kitchen counter.

Quartz is fast becoming the most popular option for kitchen countertops, and although they too are not indestructible, they come pretty close. Quartz is an engineered stone (not a natural stone like Granite) created by using ground natural mineral quartz. The key advantage to quartz kitchen countertops is that they are super low maintenance and do not need the periodic sealing that granite does. Quartz is for a particular person who doesn't like Asymmetrical design. Natural stone is almost always Asymmetrical and Quartz (by virtue of being engineered) is almost guaranteed to be more repetitive and symmetrical.

There are a couple reasons why granite is such a popular material for kitchen countertops. The process of chossing a Granite counter can feel a more personal because every Granite slab has it's own unique design. By nature, your stone is one-of-a-kind. Granite is also incredibly durable. While we're not suggesting you toss out your trivets, cutting boards, and other protective gear, granite is made to handle the wear and tear of daily kitchen activity. Compared to Quartz, Granite does need a new sealer every 5 years, but is also more forgiving with regard to scratches and chips and is usually easiler to repair.
